David, I'm writing from work, where I don't have skype, but in skype 5, you can still add a contact via the menus, I think it's probably under tools if not under a contacts submenu, the difference being further that you have to press the spacebar instead of enter, to get into the edit boxes.
I do have Doug Lee's scripts for jaws installed, but don't know whether that has a bearing on this issue. By the way, according to the Skype English list, skype 5.1 is out and Doug has already released scripts for that too.
