Okay, tried this a couple of different ways and actually ended up with the brown when I know I selected red. So which 'red' are you using? When I chose dark red it turned out as red but when I chose one of the others it turned out brown. I am going off of what JAWS is reporting as I do not have a sighted person available to confirm the color. Does this help?

I selected the text, pressed the applications key, went to font, and changed the font color to red. Then went back and confirmed that it was red with insert F.
