'Support' in this context means technical or official support. It doesn't mean no support. there would be little point in quibbling with or raising this issue with FS, now that both these products have been upgraded.

Gerald, I suggest you pass your information to tech support at Freedom Scientific. When I contacted them a few months ago, they said Jaws 9 does not support I.E. 8. It's fine to have your anecdotal information, but I don't think you're in a position to make a claim different of that of F.S.

I hate to keep sounding like a broken record, but IE 8 works just fine with JAWS 9. The key is that you must have the latest build of JAW 9 which is 2191U. IE 8 will not work with earlier builds of JAWS 9. Maybe the folks who claim that IE 8 doesn't work with JAWS 9 did not have the latest build installed. The only JAWS feature that does not work is read Address Bar (JAWS key-A), which is really no big deal. I have been using JAWS 9 with IE 8 every day for over two years and have yet to encounter any serious compatibility issues.

Hi Dwight,

Jaws 9 does not support I.E. 8. although some claim to have them working fine together, I had a lot of trouble with the combination, so much so I had to roll back to I.E. 7. I'm afraid that's your only option, besides upgrading Jaws, of course.

Hi Derek:

I tried your suggestion many times but it didn't work. I hope you have something else I can try.
Thank you so much,

Hi Dwight:

To make the menu bar appear in Internet Explorer (IE8, do the following:

1. Open IE.

2. Press Alt+V to get to the View menu.

3. Press T to get to the Tool Bars sub-menu.

4. Press Enter on Menu Bar to check this option. You should now be able to
arrow through the menus.

Greetings:

I am using Jaws 9 and windows xp. A few days ago I went from IE 7 to IE 8. Now when I go to the menu bar Jaws will read the headings such as file, edit, view and so forth. When I press down arrow to enter one of those items Jaws says context menu and then goes silent and will not speak again
until I press escape to return to the bar.
Does anyone have any suggestions?
Thanks,
Dwight Johnson
