Hello there;

If you press alt+v=view, what do you see when you right arrow on,
Arrange by sub-menu,
Also what do you see, when you right arrow on,
Current view sub-menu,

Here I have,
Arrange by sub-menu, date is checked,
Current sub-menu, messages is checked.
