I have just performed a clean install of windows 7 on a laptop. There wasn't a driver cd. So it took a long time to find all the drivers. IMO, it's a much better idea to keep your drivers current - within reason - rather than back-up / restore old or corrupt device drivers. In my experience, corrupt or old drivers are the biggest single issue people have with computers.
