Ok I've just tried to create a shortcut which goes on your desktop.

Then I opened the Programs folder which I made from the programs menu and
then tried to past it there but again it wont work so I guess you cant have
a shortcut to a drive on your start menu.

Hi Larry,

Thank you for the items tip but, I can't seem to be able to put a folder
into the start menu. What I want to do is put shortcuts for my disk drives
into the start menu so, I can assign shortcut keystrokes to them. I tried
putting folder shortcuts on the desktop but, the shortcut keystrokes
wouldn't work from the desktop. I have no idea why they wouldn't work but,
they didn't so, I thought I would try from the start menu. Any ideas would
be appreciated very much. Thanks again, take care.
Mike

When you are on an item you wish to add right click or applications key
and
then up arrow to Pin to Start Menu

to do in XP? All help will be graciously accepted & greatly appreciated.
  Thanks much, take care.
