You should shut it off using the hard power button on the PC tower (ignore the
scare of not turning it off that way..it does no harm as a last resort when u r
stuck and can't move), then turn it on in safe mode. Once botted up in safe
mode single focused head straight to the search box on the main window of the
OS and pull up system restore and then restore it to a point prior to the
incident when u r sure the PC was working just fine. This will fix it all.

The only challenges here are that you will needed sighted assistance for the
following reasons:
1. when restarting the hard power button, the option to boot up in safe mode is
not spoken by jaws as this option comes up prior to windows booting up and
Jaws only speaks once windows is booted up.
2. Once booted in safe mode, jaws will still won't speak. So again u need
sighted assistance to pull up and run system restore..

Subject: [JAWS-Users] new win7 computer frozen

I left the computer while cooking and eating dinner. It usually goes into a
sort of rest mode. When I return to it, the screen is black and i press
enter. The screen lights up and then it says something like Miriam log in
and I press enter again and I am where I was when I last used it. But
tonight when I came back and pressed enter the screen lit up but there was
no sound and the keys wouldn't work. With great difficulty, I could find
with the mouse that all it seemed to say on the screen is Windows 7 Premium.
Even though I was told not to turn it off with the button, I did and turned
it on again, but I'm in the same place I was. Any suggestions?

Miriam
