A stupid answer. It is Matroska format, which is an open-source video
format that supports audio and subtitles. That's what I recall, anyway.
You can play .mkv files using VLC player, otherwise, you have to download a
special codec for it.
Take my advice, I don't use it anyway.

Try software for blueray rippers. The mkv is mostly used from ripped
blueray disks.
