Still have some issues.
When I hit, insert up arrow, the first time, I hear "normal" and 1 inch.
The second time I hit the same key combination, I don't hear it.
I do not hear it when I hit, insert down arrow.
It seems as though JAWS is reading the borders left, top and bottom. But only the first time I use the keys.
Oh, I made sure everything was unchecked as you suggested.

My sighted wife said she saw a backwards p, and could not find the option to change it.
So, she clicked on "hide".

Thanks for any help.

Hi Rich,

While in Word open quick settings with Insert +V. Arrow down, way down,
until you get to, New Lines & Paragraphs Indication, press the spacebar
until Jaws reports, OFF! Let us know how much this helps, if any! Take
care.

Okay I will do some more investigating.
Here is something strange to me.
When I initially hit read line, i.e. insert up arrow, I hear "normal" and
 sometimes, 1 inch.
The second time I hit the same command, on the same line, I do not get
that
response, but only the proper sentence.
 Hmmmm.

 Thanks again.
