If that is the case, Steve Dallmer is apparently looking for a scapegoat to
lay the blame on in case Win 8 turns out to be the next Edsel of operating
systems. Anyone else old enough to rmember the Edsel? It was the laughing
stock of the auto industry when it was introduced by Ford in 1959, and it it
was such a colossal flop that it almost brought the company to its knees.
Will Win 8 do the same to MS?

Actually, from what I have read, Win 8 may turn out to be an even bigger
nightmare for MS than Vista. Last week, the design executive largely
responsible for Vista, Win 7 and Win 8 (Steve shirofsky or something like
that) abruptly resigned from MS, no doubt to get out before the you know
waht hits the fan. I just hope Win 9 takes a more sensible approach than
the shotgun,one-OS-fits all-devices strategy taken by Win 8. For now, I
plan to stick with trusty XP and see what happens.

Hi Steven,
Most of the changes in Windows 8 are geared toward the mobile market,
not so
much on the PC.
I would hold off, Microsoft may have another Vista, on their hands.
You can get a program called, "Classic Shell", that will give you the
familiar
Windows classic start menu, but you still need to deal with ribbons in
Windows Explorer if my memory serves me correctly.
As far as an upgrade, I would prefer to do a clean install of an O/S
instead
of an upgrade from a existing version of Windows.
HTH,
Rick Justice
