The backup option we're discussing will restore your computer in the event of an operating system crash or some other such reason you need to recover it IE a virus ETC.
Image for windows is still my option of choice as I can do it without any third party assistance, but this method is faster if my wife is here. I am a bit fortunate in that respect but I am a hands on kind of guy who likes to do things for himself. The method image for windows provides is not too much different from what you are doing. The fact is this method will backup to CDs or DVDs which I admit I have not tried as of yet. I believe that is something I will take a look at in the near future. If I do of course I'll let the list know what my findings reveal. I'm feeling the possibility of another tutorial if it works that it can be made out to be a blind friendly project, keep your collective fingers crossed. I'll just have to muddle along groping and feeling my blind way I guess, lol I know backing up is important, and I regularly backup my folders, and if anyone isn't in the habit already of saving those important emails to your docs, I might suggest you start, it's very difficult to recover them even with that one program which I forget it's name, but it's up on your site David. After experiencing loss of emails, I make it a habit saving them to my documents, then I put them on the sea gate. this procedure works for my old brain even if there might be an easier way.. Thank you for your explaination here even if I don't understand it all. That is accessible to do quite easily. You should have received a prompt at the end of that procedure to create a repair disk which is not explained at that point but that is something you will need to boot the system from to reload the image you just made. You only need to create that disk once and everything I have discussed here is doable by a blind person. The reload process is not accessible, for that you will need sited help. I imagine it is possible to memorize the steps involved in the reload process although I have not been able to do it myself as of yet. Even if that were possible you will need help to figure that out as well. I have done system reloads using that process here and it is quite efficient just not accessible like I said. I did some disk back upon first getting my laptop with the help of Mr. Justice, so those disks then would restore it back to what it was then, but not now, is this right? Always a learning experience, and also didn't know would need sighted assistance to aid in the process, it's always something isn't it? ----- Original Message ----- From: "David Ferrin" <ow...@jaws-users.com> To: <jaws-users-list@jaws-users.com> Sent: Friday, June 14, 2013 7:45 PM Subject: Re: [JAWS-Users] Backup Good deal, unfortunately you won't be able to restore it without sited help. Sadly that's a fact but that is a decent method of backing up your system. Did you create a repair disk? You will need that to boot your system to restore the image you made today. I don't have any questions or need any help, just that this was a first for me, and well it like use to worry me a little doing it fearing the worse would happen in my case, but the computer external gods were smiling' on me today. It said on the drive when done, windows image backup.
