Hi.
If you download Microsoft Office 2013 in the 60 days version, and only
install's the Microsoft Starter, than you'll have a free version of Word and
Excel, that works with all the normal used features, but not the advanced.
Herefrom you can open .doc and .docx files, and save them as .txt files.

Hi. I never bothered to get Word, dince I don't do a lot of processing.
Wordpad does not open .doc files. Thanks

Do you not have Microsoft Word?
You could try Wordpad and see if that will open the .doc and then click
file, asave as from there?
