They start using Dr. Phil then for sure I'm hitting the trail. I wish they had celebrity voices. Dr. Phil, maybe Stephen King. Also, they should have other dialects. I'm using Ava right now. She'f quite expressive "no pun entended" but not as much as I expected. I'm no longer using Elequence. I'm just using Ava. It's so disappointing they got rid of Jenn though. I loved Jenn. She was a very good reading voice. But then again, I may have just gotten too use to her from listening to the PTR1 and PTR2 manuals over, over, over, over, over, over, over, over and over and over again. Front to back too. Jill was okay too. Sam sounds annoyed kind of, and she's also too cliché for my taste. The Apple stuff has her, The first Victor Streem had her, and on it goes. Enough already with Sam! I really wish they'd bring Jenn back I wouldn't mind her all over the place. Smile. Also, why don't they ever use hot chicks for these voices? It's always women in there 40s or something. Let's hear some hot chick for once. Even some girlly 36 year old or something. -----Original Message----- From: JAWS-Users-List [mailto:jaws-users-list-boun...@jaws-users.com] On Behalf Of Scott Duck Sent: Wednesday, September 11, 2013 11:30 AM To: jaws-users-list@jaws-users.com Subject: Re: [JAWS-Users] new voices? Hi Guys, I have installed the U.S. Vocalizer Expressive voices on my machine. I have used Ava a little and I don't think that I have ever heard a happier sounding synthetic voice, unlike Samantha, who always sounds a little mad. I wish that Ava was available for my iPhone. Overall though, for JAWS, I still prefer plain old Eloquence. I have used it for 15 years or so, ever sense they started packaging it with JAWS, and I have just gotten so use to it that it seems a little strange using anything else. The Eloquence voice itself sounds very robotic but I think that it does a better job at very high speeds and the pronunciation is a little better than many of these more natural sounding voices. Allison, Ava, Smantha, and Tom are the U.S. voices. However, they are very expressive as was discussed in the latest FS cast as compared to previous versions. The direct version does not indicate caps by raising pitch like the expressive version. I am using Ava myself and am very happy with the response on my Windows 7 64 bit running both jaws and magic with 6 gigs of ram. I am not up on all the additional voices for other countries but I am impressed with all the vocalizer expressive voices out there for everyone already. I am also very happy with the first public beta so far. It's playing very well with Magic 12 and comes in handy on all these overcrowded web sites today. blind5sparrow For answers to frequently asked questions about this list visit: http://www.jaws-users.com/help/ For answers to frequently asked questions about this list visit: http://www.jaws-users.com/help/ For answers to frequently asked questions about this list visit: http://www.jaws-users.com/help/ For answers to frequently asked questions about this list visit: http://www.jaws-users.com/help/ For answers to frequently asked questions about this list visit: http://www.jaws-users.com/help/
