: Hi Marilyn,
:
: To put your desktop into the Windows Classic theme do the following:
:
:
: 1. While on the desktop press the F5 key to make sure that nothing is
: selected.
: 2. Press the applications key, arrow down to Personalize & press enter.
: 3. You will now be in the Themes Gallery. here the different themes are
in
: columns. To find the Windows Classic Theme, arrow down to Windows7 Basic,
: & right arrow 1 time to Windows Classic Theme & press enter. This should
: switch you to the Windows Classic Theme.
:
: Also, changing themes will probably change your Sound Schemes as well.
So,
: you might have to alter your sound schemes to get the sounds you want.
: P.S. Happy Birthday to you January 7th! Have a great day!
: Take care.

: So what you are saying is that you can work faster with the xp start menu
: but does it have to be the xp operating system (I call it my xp computer)?
: I''m with Gerald Levy on all of this and may just continue with xp. I
: bought my brother's win 7 with new scanner and printer when he moved to
win
: 8. He likes 8 bevause he's an engineer and they always like complicated
: things!! Marilyn

:: Hi Marilyn,
:: Unless you use a third-party program
:: designed to change the GUI (graphical user interface), it's not going to
:: happen.
:: The only thing available in "classic" in Windows 7 is the appearance
: of
:: the Desktop.
:: The plus with Win7 over Win8 is that 7 still has menus in Windows
: Explorer,
:: 8 does not.
:: Windows 7 does not give any option to change the start menu as in Windows
: XP
:: and Vista, but there is no need to be afraid of it,
:: just takes a little getting used to.
:: I don't find navigating it any faster as others have claimed
:: I work mainly from the start menu, and can still operate much quicker
with
:: the Windows XP start menu.
:: HTH,
:: Rick Justice
::
:: Tomorrow's another day, another way!
:: and if tomorrow never comes, problem solved!
