Jason,

If you are in the "Tree View" when browsing, and you utilize the left and right arrows to open and close the different folders, this will work fine until you reach the folder which contains the file which you are trying to locate, i.e. the documents folder. When you reach the documents folder, and it says closed, do not press the right arrow key to open it, simply press the tab key. This will also open the folder and will reveal all of the files and folders within it, not just a select few. I could not really tell, but I hope this ansers the question that you are asking.

Sounds like you need to switch folders to a higher level to find your Resume
file, which can be done from the Tree view. I am not sure which version of
Windows you have, but in Windows 7, from the Attach File window, you are
first left in the file name field. Hitting Shift tab twice puts you into
the list of files in your last used directory. I believe this is your
Pictures folder. Hitting Shift tab twice more should have you hearing
"Tree". From the Tree view you can up or down arrow, or use the first
letter of the desired foler. JAWS should also announce the level of the
folder. The default folder name is typically "documents" when you are
saving from most programs, but could easily have been modified along the
way. Hope this helps. I have never used Windows 8 so am not sure if the
tab structure is different in that version.

Subject: [JAWS-Users] having trouble using Jaws to change folder to look in
so as to attach a file

Hi list, I am trying to apply for a job online. During the application
process, I am asked to attach my resume. So like I have done previously, I
press enter on the provided browse button. I am then prompted to enter my
file name(so far this is normal). However, I shift tab to get into my list
of documents, I am put into my pictures folder. I have searched around the
screen to find an option to change the folder to my documents. However, the
document options I do find, only end up showing a small number of the
hundreds I do have. Even if I choose the c drive option, I don't seem to get
anywhere. Can anyone help me with this? I am using Jaws 16 on a Win home
premium desktop.
thanks Jason
