Hi Sandy,
If you just want to mute JAWS while you use another program, simply press
the JAWS key, on a notebook with no key pad, it is the Cap Lock key, and
press the space bar at the same time. When you hear the funny noise, then
press the letter S. This will toggle the JAWS mute function on and off, so
when you want JAWS to speak again, just repeat the same thing.
