Not as bad as placing footnotes, something I haven't had to do in more than 30 years, but I take the point. It should be possible to set up the project the way you want it, and just go. The only thing on your mind, once you begin, should be saying what needs to be said in the best way possible. I haven't fooled with page numbers for a while, but sounds as if I need to look at that again.
