Vic, could it be that the JRE doesn't install Access Bridge, and that's why 
I don't have the checkbox you mentioned?

If you are running Windows 7 try the following:

Press the Start Menu key
Type access and when you are on the Ease of Access Centre press the enter
key
Press the Tab key until you land on Use the Computer without a Display link
and press the enter key
Press the Tab key until you get to the Java Access Bridge check box.

The status of that check box will let you know if JAB is enabled or not.
