I will be needing to get JAWS 17 and need a bigger computer, so will be
buying a new one after the first of the year. If 10 turns out to be a
bummer, I'll just get 8.1. Had I known that XP could have been upgraded, I
might have done that. However, since I didn't, and I've gone this far, my
husband says I won't have to relearn as much, just relearn differences from
XP rather than from 8.1 too. then

You forgot my 2 cents...
Either way you have to buy a wind 7 or a win8 to get the free win10.
Win7 will be around for next 5 or 6 years and it's really easy to change
from XP.
I am just upgrading one laptop to Win10.
It's like entering in an unknown,not proven, with wmp new bugs.
I been seeing, that the members using 8 and 8.1 try to use the commands
like
when they were on Win7 and it does not work or they change the names of
things.

I have had two very smart people advise me to hold off to get Windows 10
until after the first of the year. I do intend to weight. The only reason
that I have not gone on and gotten 8.1 now is that my husband, one of the
smart ones, suggested that I wait and have only one system to learn rather
than two.

Hi David again replying to windows 8 and getting windows 10. First of
all, I would never install windows 10 on July 29. You don't know what
bugs will still be in it. Even freedom Scientific has said that some
of the features in windows 10 will not be accessible until Microsoft
comes out with an update of windows 10 in the fall. I would wait at
least winter time to install windows 10 and let others discover all of
the mistakes that need fixed. I would still recommend windows 8.1 and
wait until even the spring to go to windows 10. Remember, it is a
free up grade up to a year after it comes out. On July 29, it is only
being offered to customers. Even businesses are waiting until that
update comes out in the fall. That is when JAWS will be totally be
able to access all of the features. Good luck to all of you who gets
it right on July 29.
