Hello Mike: Wow. This is a lot of great information!! Most of it new to me. I will have to take some time to digest it. However, I will copy and paste it into a word document for easy reference. Thanks a bunch. Neil

For JAWS 15 portable, it looks like the download files and the extracted files will need around 200 MEG. After you've downloaded both the 32 bit and the 64 bit files from FS, copy them to the thumb drive. Now press enter on one of the downloaded files. The first screen that appears asks where you want to extract the files to. The default is the high-level folder of the thumb drive. Assuming you chose the 32 bit version, tab once and you'll be on an edit box that specifies the high level folder of the thumb drive (Drive Letter colon backslash). Press the end key to move past the backslash and enter a folder name such as JAWS15-32. Then tab to the next button and press enter. Now all of the JAWS portable files for the version you chose will be placed in the folder you specified. Now repeat the steps above to extract the files for the other version and specify a folder name like JAWS15-64, assuming you are now installing the 64 bit version. Using Windows 7, I don't believe I've ever seen an auto run dialog popup automatically. So I create a startup file in the thumb drive high-level folder to start JAWS portable. In the high-level folder create a DOS batch file with a name like JAWS15.bat. The file extension must be .bat. Now position on the newly created file and press the applications key or shift+f10 to bring up the context menu. Arrow down one time to edit and press enter to open. Now copy the 6 lines that follow and paste them into the open batch file. Make sure the folder name in the batch file match what you named the folders. Then press control+s to save and alt+f4 to close. @echo off if "#%programFiles(x86)%#" neq "##" ( start JAWS15-64\jfw.exe goto :eof ) start JAWS15-32\jfw.exe This batch file will start the appropriate 32 or 64 bit version of JAWS portable. Now all you'll need to start JAWS portable is the drive letter where the thumb drive is installed. If the thumb drive opens when the thumb drive is inserted, move to the batch file and ;press enter, or press Windows key+r for the run dialog, type Drive letter colon backslash batch file name.bat. -----Original Message----- From: JAWS-Users-List [mailto:jaws-users-list-boun...@jaws-users.com] On Behalf Of Neil Towery Sent: Saturday, September 19, 2015 03:37 To: jaws-users-list@jaws-users.com Subject: Re: [JAWS-Users] issue for portable jaws Hello George: I have read the instructions from the link you provided. I pasted them into a word document, for easy access. However, I have two questions: 1. Since we never know whether we will be trying to use the thumb drive on a 32 or 64 bit computer, how does one know which one to download to the thumb drive? 2. Secondly, it seems to me that a sighted person needs to be available, when the thumb drive is plugged into the second computer. Otherwise, we never know whether the auto run dialogue appears. Is that correct? Here it has the instructions written out on the web page, and the download links for the JAWS USB applications, and the Video Intercept files. Download the appropriate ones for the computers that you will be using JAWS on. The instructions are fairly simple, and you should get them in one or two readings. If not, then copy them and paste them into a text document. http://www.freedomscientific.com/Downloads/Jaws/JawsMagicUSBDownloads Mike mike....@comcast.net -----Original Message----- From: Ravi Paswan Sent: Tuesday, September 15, 2015 10:42 AM To: jaws-users-list@jaws-users.com Subject: [JAWS-Users] issue for portable jaws tel me friend how to creat a portable copy of jaws. because I have read some information from jaws website www.freedomscientific.com and download sub menue. but I am follow the all stap but it is not make it. so tel me friend some thing extra about this matter. that how to creat a portable copy of jaws. if be posible my dear friend please kindly send me a tutorial audio and text to creat a portable copy of jaws. thank you.
