Hello Ron, Control w closes the active window such as when you are in a program and have focus on a webpage in Internet Explorer/Firefox or an email composition window in Outlook for example. Since you say in your message that you would like an easier means of getting to the date/time without having to press insert, how about switching your keyboard layout to laptop instead of desktop? This could be found under basic settings. After switching your keyboard to this layout, the caps lock key would now become the insert key for any JAWS function. Now to check the date press caps lock f12twice quickly and to check the time press caps lock f12 once.
