Wayne, you must crawl, before you can walk and then run. Taking on
too many different challenges at once is a 100 yard dash LOL. Conquer
one problem at a time.
Once you learn how to use Google Drive efficiently, all future issues
similar to this one will be much easier to conquer.

Thanks so much. I am in the process of learning how it works and it is
taking time.
The ftp file was sent as a link from the Disabilities Center after the
publisher, Yale University Press, sent it to them. The link takes me to a
website where I enter the user name and password they sent along with the
file link. I am now trying to save the file as a text file rather than a
web page.
Lots of new steps.

Wayne, I'm not sure of the exact procedures needed for accessing your school
work. I can only surmise here.
I'm sure if they're using Google Drive to deliver school work to you the
book or whatever info they want you to review must be downloaded first from
a folder that your teacher created on Google Drive. You can also click on a
document and have it opened up without having to download it first, and then
locate it to open up.
Every single aspect of Google Drive is accessible via keyboard shortcut
keys. Review the details on that link I shared with you which gives great
tips on using a screen reader with Google Drive.
There is also links for reviewing the page of shortcut keys there too.
Now once you used the Username and Password to log into Google Drive, did
you first turn off the Virtual cursor press [Insert]+[z] and then tried
using the [Tab] key to navigate around the screen? Do a little exploring
that way and see what JAWS tells you.
You may end up on a file or document which clearly tells you that your
school work is enclosed. Then you simply press the [Enter] or [Spacebar] key
on that item to have it open up in your browser.
Don't be nervous about exploring the screen this way. It may seem tedious,
but JAWS will read better if you do things this way while in Google Drive.
