Annette, For the record, and because I think Mike and Mario had an interesting idea, I said the opposite of what you indicate I did. I allowed that maybe Text Analyzer could pick up wavy lines. I have no idea.
I find that Word 2010 detects everything that TA can. For example, spell-checker picks up extra spaces, which was a long-time problem for me. (Also, searching for triple and double spaces and replacing them with single spaces does the trick.) Likewise, MS Word's spell-checker detects possible uppercase/lowercase errors. I know where I intended to add italics, bold and other highlights, and I can confirm I marked off just the text I wanted with a combination of MS Word and the JAWS insert (JAWS key)+f command. When I've tested TA, I go crazy with all the interruptions and verbal ticks. Still, I can imagine TA is useful with other word processors and with thesis-length documents where I would have forgotten every underlined and bolded passage. You are correct that it does not look for squiggle lines, but the purpose of it is to detect errors and inconsistencies in the text, so maybe it addresses spelling errors. The other thing to look into is the track changes and proof reading features in Word, as well as the JAWS setting that might make using these features tolerable. I do make use of the application key when my cursor is on a miss-spelled word, but I find running the spell check to be a more efficient way of dealing with spelling errors.
