Kimber the DecTalk is still usable. Do you have a DecTalk Express or a DecTalk USB? You can download the software. As of right now it only works up to Windows 7, no 10 yet.

Kimber,

I agree about the Dectalk Express, which I use exclusively. JAWS 17 still
recognizes it, and it works with my Win7 Dell.

However, I can't remember how I solved the connector issue, and getting at the
back of my machine is a superhuman task fraught with risk!
I hope someone who is less intimidated by gadgets will answer this part of
your query.

Subject: [JAWS-Users] Hardware decTalk -- is it still usable?

Hi All,

I was cleaning out my office the other day (they are giving us new
carpet at work), and I found an old hardware DecTalk with a serial
connector. Now aside from the connector issue, is the hardware DecTalk
even supported anymore by Jaws? If so, is there a converter that will
allow me to connect it to my laptop?

In my opinion, the hardware DecTalk was the best speech ever so I am
really hoping it is still a viable option.

Thanks for any info.

Kimber
