Hi.

This isn't what experience tells me, 2 gb will do ok with Windows 10 and JAWS. I have a tablet with only 2 gb of ram and it runs well enough for the tasks outlined. The more you have the better you are no doubt, but I don't think I can agree that you have to have 4 gb to run Windows 10 as I've spent far too much time on 2 gb ram with decent responsiveness my own self. Now that isn't to say upgrading wouldn't help, as it would, but it would run well enough to do what this individual states will be done with it, and if they needed to use jaws, it would function efficiently enough even for that. It is the processor that gives you speed up to a certain point before the ram makes a whole lot of difference, and a dual core 2.1ghz processor with 64 bit is no slouch.

those are the minimum requirements. if you are planning to run JAWS and other programs, you'd need at least 4 GB if not 8 for a smooth experience. that applies with the other requirements as well. the more the better.

Hi Jorge,
I did look up the spec that Microsoft says it takes to run W10
They say it can run on
. Processor: 1 gigahertz (GHz) or faster
. RAM: 1 gigabyte (GB) (32-bit) or 2 GB (64-bit)
. Free hard disk space: 16 GB
. Graphics card: Microsoft DirectX 9 graphics device with WDDM driver

Ed,
So, it's a 2 gig laptop,
That might be to small.

The reason, I know is this laptop that I'm working on was also a 2 gig
laptop, I had it increase to 4 gigs to run window 7 and jaws and what ever?

Subject: [JAWS-Users] Question on if laptop will run Jaws and W10.

Hi Everyone,

I have and old laptop that use to be my work pc. It has XP Pro on it for an operating system. Also It has two batteries and they are just like new. It was never use more than maybe 75 to 100 hours is a guess. I was wondering what your opinion would be if it would be good enough for my wife to use. All she does is email, Facebook and does some searching on the web. I want
to put Windows 10 on it and Jaws so I can do maintenance on it. My wife
does not need Jaws. So she would be using it with just Windows 10 so I am
wondering if it would be good enough for that. I know the ram is pretty
low. Here are the spec on the laptop.

Dell Vostro 1720

IntelR Core 2 Duo CPU

T570 @ 2.10GHz

2.09 GHz, 1.96 GB of RAM

Any suggestions and opinions would be appreciated.

Ed
