What have you got to lose by turning text analyzer on just to see? You can turn it back off if it does nothing.

I turned smart reading off and on, with no change.

Text analyzer was off, so I kept it that way.

You might try experimenting with smart reading and text analyzer on/off in
the insert V menu in Outlook and Word.

As noted in my most recent post, the problem apparently is not new in Jaws

Once again, I'm using Word 2016 and Outlook 2016 in Office 365 here.

Most of the time we complain about JAWS not speaking enough. This may be a
case of JAWS seeing and talking too much, new in 17.

I can do this, but I'd like to keep some punctuation in documents if

As I think I might have said before, I've always used the some
punctuation
setting in the past with previous versions of Word, Outlook, and Jaws
with
no issues like this.

How about trying no punctuation, though that may not be desirable either.

Ask FS about how to stop it.

There was a recent discussion on this and the general kensensus was
that there is no way to silence the culprit.
As far as what it is, if memory serves this dude from the list
researched and don't quote me if I'm incorrect but it's a separator
line.

Subject: [JAWS-Users] How To Stop Jaws From Saying Vertical Tab

Hello, everyone.

As some of you may recall, I'm working to get Office 365 up and
running on a fairly new Windows 7 laptop. I am using the latest
build of
Jaws 17.
I have noticed that in many e-mails, and especially in Microsoft Word
documents, Jaws keeps saying "vertical tab", as I navigate whatever
it is I'm reading.

I don't recall encountering this behavior in the previous versions
of Outlook and Word that I have used.

How can I get Jaws to stop reading the vertical tabs, whatever they
are?
As I'm sure yu can imagine, this vertical tab designation is very
distracting.
