I don't know the cause, but I know one cause for this behavior. I've seen it
many times. It happens on laptops when the touchpad has not been disabled.
It's very easy to brush against the touchpad with the palm of your hand when
typing. That makes the cursor jump around. The user has no idea this is
happening. Let me be clear, I don't think this is the only cause of this
behavior, but it is definitely one cause. I've seen it more times than I can
count.
