Hi Annette, The system that you are getting will serve your needs well. I was just fantasizing. A dual core processor is like having two processors in one. It runs at about double the speed, so a 1.6 GHZ, dual core processor is like having a 3.2 GHZ Pentium processor. The DVD burner would be nice for major backups. The benefits of a larger HD are obvious, and I would like one that spins at 5400 RPM. 7200 would even be better, but I do not think you would find that in a laptop. As far as models I recommend, for something light weight with a 12.1 screen, I would recommend the Dell XPS M1210 or the Toshiba U205-S5002. The Dell would probably run close to $2000, but the Toshiba, with almost the same specs is presently on sale at Office Depot for $999 after rebate. Another good choice, in fact, recommended by Consumer Reports, is the Dell Inspiron E1405. It is a little heavier, and has a 14.1 inch display. However, the machine that you are getting is good, and solid, and for the average work situation, will serve you well. What kind of work do you do, and how will you be using the computer?

Sure, the DVD burner would be nice, but I can't even begin to justify it. However, a DVD player...well, I'd better go back and see if that was included. If you were buying a light-weight laptop, what would you buy? It is not the system that I would buy, but you can't complain because you are not paying for it. I like the size and weight, but I would want a dual core processor, and a bigger and faster HD, and a DVD burner. It is a light-weight DELL model. I'm going to provide the specs below. Can anyone give me pointers as to features or components that might cause JAWS to not work? I know that Video cards can be a problem, can anyone tell me if the one in this laptop could be a potential problem? Any advice or recommendations that any of you can give to me will be appreciated.
