For those using certain operating systems, there also is the Hibernate mode.
That is found in your control panel under the Power setting icon. It is
very similar to the stand by mode but unlike stand by mode, there is no user
log on step to go through when you tap any key to wake up from your
hibernation period. Kind of like having a body guard standing over you when
you sleep.

Use this option to save power, especially if you prefer to leave your
computer turned on for long periods of time. In standby mode, your computer
is available for immediate use—just log on and your desktop is exactly the
way that you left it, including any programs that you were using.

In standby mode, information in memory is not saved to your hard disk. This
means that if the computer loses power, any information that you did not
save before the computer went into standby mode is lost. It's a good idea to
save your work before putting the computer into standby mode.

I have been hearing you guys talk quite a bit about the stand by mode. What
exactly is it and what
does it do? Is this an option that you have instead of shutting down the
computer completely?

Thanks,
Donnie
