Oh, Ricque, I couldn't agree more that life is very good! Actually, it's as
good as we make it because what we put into it is what we'll get out of it!

Hi Arianna,
Yes, that will work!
Just remenmber, that if you wish to have Jaws load at startup, and stay out
of your way,
then just check the boxes to automatically start Jaws, and run Jaws from the
system tray.
Either way, life is good. smile

The best way to handle it then is just to start JAWS with a hotkey after
Windows has come up. I'm the only user of my computer, so I don't have that
login screen coming up before Windows starts.

You've taught me something again.

Hi Arianna,
Pretty simple actually!
If Jaws is set to run at startup, it is running as a service,
so when you unload Jaws, and then re-load it with your shortcut key,
itt is then running as an application.
Jaws can be running from the system tray, but it is still running as an
service.
It is possible to have Jaws start as an application when the computer boots,
but the log-in screen will not be available to you.
This is because when Jaws is running as a service, it is loaded before
Windows is fully loaded to give speech access to the log-in screen.
When itt is run as an application, itt is loaded after Windows is loaded.
I can tell you how to start Jaws as an application, but I found that
particular method can have unexpected side-effects,
that may vary from machine to machine, so I wouldn't recommend it to others
since it seems to be unstable.
HTH,
Ricque

Ricque, how do you make JAWS run as an application? I've seen this
mentioned, but i have no idea how to do it.

Overall, it seems to be better , however it does seem to have some
intermittent issues.
1. Occasionally, it does not announce the folder view when I shift tab in
Outlook Express,
to go from the message list, to the folder list.
2. Hesitates sometimes in Internet Explorer.
I can usually correct the above issues, by unloading and then reloading
Jaws.
When the above issues occur, it is when Jaws is being run as a service, and
are corrected by running it as an application.

My take on the program is so far it seems to be fine for me. Once in a
while and this has been several days since it lost focus when composing an
email while trying to tab from the subject line to the message body. Over
all I am fairly pleased with it to this point. Just my opinion for what it's
worth.
