        Yes, these are exactly the two features I use.  And I would be in
favor or removing the resource manager idiom and making a direct link
between the bean's resource and the DataSource.  All the resource managers
do right now is introduce extra indirection and visibility questions.

Use this:           Instead of:

   Bean                 Bean
    |                    |
DataSource         ResourceManager
                         |
                     DataSource

        So I guess we're suggesting making all the other settings
optional?  That is, any setting you do not include has a default, but you
may choose to override any individual setting?
