Just a guess:
with a little help of the SF team (mostly on permissions) should be possible
to login to cvs.jboss.sourceforge.net which should host the CVS repository,
and then copy the old repository there.
Anyway the SF team should help on changing appropriately the modules or
commitinfo or whatever file was used to email the commits, to fit their
configuration and security.
But normally they have looong times to answer a question, since they're very
busy.
