I have no basis to make any comment, I've never even tried to start Jetty.
Just suggesting we have two bundles for download, if the Tomcat one is not
suitable for some reason, I would try Jetty next.

Tomcat is in general a slow servlet engine, but my experience was comparing
it with COTS servlet engines not other open source ones, and that is
somewhat dated by now. I do not know how much improvement they have made in
the 3.2 releases, though people seem to think there is a good amount.

One issue with Apache/Tomcat and the connector in the middle is that you've
got another network hop in the middle of processing servlet requests. I am
not sure how much that slows it down vs any speedup of static content
serving.

My previous employer, an internet startup, used Java webserver for a long
time, before moving to Apache/Resin. We didn't have tons of traffic ~200K
page views/day over 2-3 PIII 450 boxes but they were never too busy, so I am
sure a pure Java solution will work.

Of course how do you do CGI or PHP using Tomcat? (he he)

Cheers

Off Topic,

Is Jetty better? We're using Jetty and were considering moving to Tomcat
because it seemed the user base was higher.

Let me know,

Bill
