While the packaging is cool, IMHO it's more of a practical detail than a real advancement. To me, personally, it's all about the meta-programming and dynamicity of building large constructs from small blocks, which is enabled by having simple blocks that fit together like lego. JBoss is like lego. In many forms and different shapes, sizes and colors, but at the same time it's all the same.
