We had the same problem in trying to use xerces & xalan within Jboss, due to
the overlap of classes in the various jars. For those of you needing to do
XSL transformations, our solution was similar to Mattias', which was to
strip out the duplication of classes between the various XML-related
libraries. In total:
(1) In jboss/lib/xml.jar, remove org.w3c.dom and org3.xml.sax.*, leaving
only:
com.sun.xml.*
(2) Leave xerces.jar as is, such that it contains:
javax.xml.parsers
org.apache.html.dom
org.apache.wml.*
org.apache.xerces.*
org.apache.xml.serialize
org.w3c.dom.*
org.xml.sax.*
(3) In xalan.jar, remove javax.xml.parsers, org.w3c.*, and org.xml.sax.*,
such that it is left containing:
org.apache.serialize.*
org.apache.trax
org.apache.xalan.*
org.apache.xpath.*
