You shouldn't be declaring unchecked exceptions in your throws clause. It's not about throwing them, it's about declaring them. You are essentially arguing about writing code that says "throws NullPointerException". Note that this will not conform to the spec either. It is becuase you never need to declare unchecked exceptions in your throws clause of any Java method. EJBException and RuntimeException are unchecked. Don't declare them.
