Right, good point. What I did was to add:
<!-- JBoss, fixes classloader hierarchies. -->
<ContextInterceptor
className="org.jboss.tomcat.ContextClassLoaderInterceptor" />
before the JBoss Web XML reader interceptor in Tomcat's server.xml.
