generation strategies. I've been using the first strategy in Floyd Marinescu's book

but have been getting transaction roll-back exceptions.
You are talking about the sequence block pattern? I have implemented this as well and it is working. To my mind this is an excellent solution for db-independant pk generation. Perhaps you should post the execptions you get?
