I don't know if I would feel comfortable using that VM parameter. It also sounds like you wouldn't be able to use a unix kill either for a clean shutdown, which would be bad in cases where JBoss is in a state that it isn't responding to the JMX RMIAdaptor based shutdown (which both the shutdown.sh script and the jmx-console use). I presume that the -Xrs wouldn't filter out a kill -9, but that's probably not a good way to force JBoss down either.
