When all your jboss instances have the same deployments, no load balancing will occur. JBoss will always use the colocated SLSB.
This occurs at two levels: 1) The invocation interceptor will optimize remote invocations to local invocations. 2) Even when you disable the (1), there is an explicit colocation optimization in the HA invokers.
