Is the machine you are using a stand alone machine or are you part of a business network.
If it is part of a business network is your web browser configured to use a proxy server? If so is it set to bypass the proxy for local addresses possibly by specifying the IP address range that is local. Also could you elaborate on 'it stops working'.
