I really liked the socked-based interface concept and I think it would be a
drawback to your design if you're implementing such a major change only
because of the ms-windows problems.

It might be worth the time to find a solution for the tcp/ip networking for
those operating systems not supporting tcp/ip directly, because people will
have the problems later on if they are going to write java programs with
sockets etc. I prefer having a solution as close to the problem as possible.

I suggest everyone will take some time searching the web to find some
documentation about this. The solution might be very simple...
