My current config:

NT4.0
emacs19.34.6
jde1.?

My goal config:

emacs20.4
jde2.16

Couple questions wrt JDE:

1) in order to successfully install, do I need jdk1.2 ( I don't have it
yet, and can't switch for a while.)?

2) is the lisp tar.gz critical to a successful install if I don't need
the lisp source?

3)Do I need to create a site-lisp dir under the emacs installation and
move the jde .el
files into it? In my current installation all jde lisp files are
installed in the site-lisp
dir along with other files needed, ie., speedbar.el, etc. Is
site-lisp a pre-defined link
    in the emacs load path?

4) I've installed emacs20.4 and what I did was copy my site-lisp dir
from my previous
installation(19.34.6), deleted the elc's and byte compiled the el's
again. I noticed that in the "lisp"
subdir, stuff like speedbar.elc already existed. Should I have
migrated the previous site-lisp
     subdir to the new installation?

At any rate, I figured that I could run my current version of the jde
with emacs20.4 but it doesn't
work.

Thanks.
