I set up a CVS repository for the JDE on Sunsite Denmark more than a year
ago, announced this and mentioned this many times on the JDE mailing list,
and even went so far as to post instructions on how to access the
repository on the JDE website (see Developer's Corner).

Read access to the repository is open to anyone. Sunsite Denmark will grant
commit privileges, subject to my approval.

So far the repository has not simplified my life. I used to use RCS for the
JDE on my local system. Moving the JDE sources to a remote repository has
made committing changes slower and more tedious.

I've been using cygwin for more than three years every day at home and at
work. The JDE website recommends installing cygwin and gives instructions
for installing it as part of the JDE installation process. It would be odd
for me to recommend something that I myself have never used and don't use.

I've tried to use both the cygwin and native nt versions of patch with the
NT version of Emacs. At one point, I had a version of patch and a version
of Emacs that worked together. This has not been the case for more than a
year. Running patch from the command line generally works. But I find that
obnoxious. I want to run patch on a buffer not from the shell. I suspect
there may be some line-ending problem with Emacs passing the patch and the
source file to the patch process, but I haven't had the time or patience to
figure it out. If you know the answer, please share it with me.
