Try using Emacs' buildin registers to remember cursor points:

- use 'C-x /' or 'C-x r space' (point-to-register) to copy your current
  point to a register. you can name your register by any press any key.

- later on, after you moved to some where else, you can recall the saved
  point by 'C-x r j' (jump-to-register)

Besides point, Emacs registers holds lots of different things:
windows-configurations, selected text, number, rectanglar text region, etc.

For more info, try 'C-h i' Emacs->Registers

Hope you find this useful.
