Thank you, Paul!

bsh-startup-timeout is the variable I was waiting for. I set it to 2 and
I'm glad with a very short waiting interval!

I've looked at the sources and found the function jde-jeval, but I don't
understand, how I can set the timeout with that function. It's not
important, but I'm just curious.
