I use jabber.py (http://jabberpy.sourceforge.net/). It's in Python and already has a very easy method to tailor replies. I've used it to build testing scenario scripts and simple bots. It works under UNIX (Solaris), was written for Linux and should work with Windows (Python is extremely portable). --Tom.
