Sometimes it doesn't at least in my case: I was having aleatory problems when connecting to my jabberd2 installation, when jabberapplet dropped the connection after getting the session (I posted that to the list).. but sometimes it connected. Also the MUC didn't work (the XML messages were different to those used by Exodus for instance...
