Hi,

No it can't be done directly though components, but I've done it through a 
plugin (based on a specific xmpp server vendor).
I've used Tigase' adhoc command and scripts for setting the specific presence 
for the users that I want to impursonate. So indirectly through one of my 
component I could call these adhoc commands to do the stuff for me. - For 
example setting the users presence even thought the user does not have a 
session yet, setting the presence status etc.
