I think the better approach would be to get a working version and not expect a company to rush in a plough a lot of cash in development. As well as laying off programmers left right and centre (I'm in the UK as well) they are loathed to spend cash in R+D
I'd developed an airline ticketing system ages ago, but why bother when Openskies had the whole thing sewn up and were making a fortune (and I mean fortune)..... me vs them... no way.
